It Is OK to be a Loser to Have a Healthy Life

Is "Move less and eat more" your favourite dialogue? Then it is time to change and this article helps you to move a bit faster. do you know looking good is a true reflection of our inner health and well being?

You can find out if you're overweight by calculating your body mass index (BMI). This shows whether you've a healthy weight for your height. The size of your waist also matters. Losing weight can reduce your risk of some potentially serious health problems. Here, is why you should be a loser.

    weight loss

Weight-Loss Helps to Reduce Hypertension:

Obesity and hypertension are closely connected and hypertension can affect overall health and life expectancy. Anti-hypertension medications should be started if hypertension is diagnosed. But, with weight-loss, a significant fall in blood pressure may permit a decrease in the number/ amount of medications taken. Prevention would be better than any drug. Weight-loss is the most important step in reducing hypertension and improving the quality of life. Reduce your weight by eating fruits, vegetables, and low-fat dairy products with reduced content of saturated and total fat, a decrease in dietary sodium, an increase in physical activity (for 30 minutes per day) and moderate consumption of alcohol.

Weight-Loss Helps to Reduce the Risk of Heart Diseases:

Obesity increases heart disease risk by increasing bad cholesterol and reducing good cholesterol. This produces hardening of the heart arteries, which can cause heart attacks."There is no doubt that just by losing 5% to 10% of your body weight, you can reduce the risk of heart attack and stroke," says E. Dean Nukta, MD, Medical Director of Interventional Cardiology at Fairview Hospital, a Cleveland Clinic Hospital. He further says, “Weight loss can make your triglycerides go down, your LDL cholesterol go down, and your HDL cholesterol goes up". That means there are more good cholesterol and less bad cholesterol and fat floating in your bloodstream.

Weight Loss Lowers the Risk of Diabetes:

Obesity also increases the risk of diabetes by diminishing glucose tolerance and predisposing to the development of left ventricular hypertrophy (enlargement of the heart). Left ventricular hypertrophy can be produced in obese patients because the heart is required to work harder to pump blood throughout the body. By some estimates, each pound of fat requires approximately a mile of extra blood vessels to supply nutrients and oxygen. Conditions such as Type 2 diabetes are less likely to develop if an obese person loses 10% of their weight. You may be able to prevent or delay diabetes by losing 5% to 7% of your starting weight. Eat smaller portions to reduce the amount of calorie intake which helps you to lose weight. Drink water instead of sweetened beverages.

Weight Loss Improves Fertility and Increases Chances of Pregnancy:

Obese women take longer to conceive than women in the healthy weight range and when they do conceive they have a higher risk of pregnancy complications such as miscarriage, diabetes and premature birth, as Obesity can cause hormonal imbalances that trigger problems with ovulation and the menstrual cycle. It also causes complications during pregnancy and can even affect the health of the unborn baby. Before planning a pregnancy, eating healthy and doing the right exercises regularly, can help boost fertility. Losing even a few kilos can make a difference.

Now it's your turn to be beautiful, confident and healthy. Even if you lose 1/2 a pound a week you'll still lose 26 pounds by this time next year. Just keep going.
