Rao Hospital was started in 1953 by Dr. Major Sudhakar Rao, son of Dr.Raghavendra Rao, the chief surgeon of former Travancore, in a small building at R.S. Puram. Dr. Major Sudhakar Rao, served in Burma for the Indian Medical Service during the war. Thanks to his bold and pioneering move to begin practice in a fledging town like Coimbatore, today we have evolved to a 100 bedded comprehensive women hospital and Centre for Assisted Reproduction and Endoscopy (CARE). The hospital specializes in Infertility, Gynecology Obstetrics, Neonatology, Minimal Access Surgeries and General Surgery.

Breast Feeding Awareness Program at Rao Hospital

Rao Hospital celebrated breast feeding awareness program in association with Rotary – Akruthi club, Coimbatore & Inner Wheel at Rao Hospital. On this occasion many newly born children & mothers participated at Rao Hospital. Dr. Asha Rao, Managing Director & Senior Consultant Gynecologist & IVF Specialist, Rao Hospital guided the gathering on various aspects of maternal health & precautionary measures thereof. She also enlightened the crowd on mandatory investigations to be done by women after age of 35. Dr. Krishnasamy, Senior Consultant Neonatal Intensivist & Pediatrician, Rao Hospital gave elaborate speech on importance of breast feeding.

We never forget Rao Hospital and specially Dr. Asha Rao madam who is serving her best to this needy society. For the past five years we ran from pillar to post seeking a baby, a meaning for our life. At last God has shown us the right place and person. Madam has treated me very efficiently and within a month I got conceived and now I became a MOTHER of two beautiful daughters.
